Filbert St.

This project on Filbert St. was a remodel of the lower levels of a four story home in Pacific Heights in San Francisco, that consisted of expanding the floorplan from a living room, dance studio, and bathroom into an open concept bedroom & lounge area. The North facing wall of the bedroom was modified to include a third pair of french doors all with interiors leading to a balcony with impressive views of the golden gate. The lounge area was given a large fireplace with floating bookshelves and an Italian Marble backsplash extending out to both boundary walls above a marble bench that sits over functional drawers and filing cabinets. The bathroom was expanded into the garage to include a steam shower and a finlandia sauna that seats 3. Meanwhile the rear staircase had glass added in place of steel railing to improve the views from the living area and the backyard was given a small grotto with a hot tub fitting into the corner behind the structural steel painted to match the bridge it overlooks.

The photo reel above shows progress at multiple stages in the project. Due to the addition of heavy appliances such as the fireplace and the expansion of the bathroom there was structural work done to the underside of the house to support the increased load.
